The Story

Once upon a time, there was a speedy hare who bragged about how fast he could run. Tired of hearing him boast, the tortoise challenged him to a race. All the animals in the forest gathered to watch.

1. The Race Begins

As the race began, the hare darted almost out of sight at once, leaving the tortoise far behind. Confident of winning, the hare decided to take a nap midway through the course.

"Why bother to run?" thought the hare. "I'll have a quick nap here, and still win the race."

2. Slow and Steady

Meanwhile, the tortoise trudged on slowly but steadily. He didn`'`t stop, but kept going at his slow, steady pace. As he neared the finish line, the animals cheered so loudly that they woke up the hare.

  • The hare woke up and realized his mistake
  • He ran as fast as he could, but it was too late
